My Microwave Doesn’t Work: What Went Wrong

This kind of issue could be related to the magnetron or its protective shield. The shield is located in the top right corner inside of the heating compartment. Make sure the piece is not cracked and is solid. Also, sparks could be caused by a damaged inner paint layer that might have exposed the metal.

• Buttons are not working

This issue could be related to buttons being dirty underneath and making bad contact with the board behind it or the membrane being bad itself. In most cases, the manufacturer sells the membrane and the control panel as one piece. So usually, it is pretty easy to remove and install it back yourself on most models.

• The turntable won’t turn

The turntable is a glass round shaped disk on which your food sits on and rotates to evenly heat up. If your turntable does not turn, in most cases it could be the fuse protecting the turn motor or the motor itself.

• The door won’t latch

The door has 3-5 hooks that latch the door shut. What most people do not know is that the door hooks also activate the safety switches behind the front panel. The front panel may be removed by unscrewing the screws below and pulling the display screen and buttons off. Make sure all switches have continuity and can be activated without affording.

• The display doesn’t work

The display may lose its brightness over time and looks dull. But don’t be tricked! It is not always the screen’s fault. Sometimes, it may be the connection between the board and the screen. The poor connection will direct enough power and make the screen dull or look completely off.

• Other inner components are faulty
